Softl Music was founded in April 2001 by Andrés Krause (Bmblab) and Tom Steinle (Tomlab) and has stopped operating in 2006.

The albums by Aki Onda and Yoshia Machida that were published in September 2001 have been the introduction to a series of releases that was focusing on compositions and recordings in the wide space between field recordings, new electroacoustic music and sound art. This series was joined by a strong design identity based on graphic design provided by Frieda Luczak and beautiful handmade packaging provided by Extrapool (NL).
